Ok, so after all that, I ordered everything and they don't have the clear case in stock! He has a black case but he said it requires a very easy mod to get the Banana Pi to fit, so hopefully my newbie brain can figure it out.
Time to do some reading and get ready for this ride. Expect more posts as I will undoubtedly stuff something up along the way :p
PS. I'm still trying to get my head around never attaching my Pi to a monitor. I just plug it all in and SSH into it with Putty right from the very first boot? That seems so weird to me :p

You will need to know the IP first. If the pi runs on dhcp you can find it in your routers log. Or you have to connect it to a monitor or TV and run a ifconfig to find the IP first. Then you can connect to the pi using ssh.
My pi is running dhcp but I have reserved the Pi's Mac address to a specific IP so I don't need to configure the IP on the pi.

To SSH into the Pi follow these steps:
I assume that you would of already flashed the SD card, if so just hook up everything (Ethernet, power and SD at least) to the Pi and turn it on.
Goto your router page (192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1 really varies on you router model) and goto attached devices or DHCP tables or something similar and find the banana Pi's local IP which usually is 192.168.0.x or 10.0.0.x. Open up PuTTY and type the Pi's Local IP into host name and the port is 22. Depends on what OS you are using but the username could be pi and the password bananapi.

Well I have the Banana Pi, it is a lot smaller than I expected! I think I'm going to try and set it up on Saturday. Wish me luck!
