SO I followed the guide to set up split vpn tunneling with PIA. Got that working, testing with vpn user shows it is connecting through PIA servers. Started Transmission with vpn user and I can no longer connect to transmission web interface.
I have two raspberry pis setup, the first has the nginx install which forwards /transmission to the second pi, using the local network IP. Before setting up the split tunneling I was able to connect to the transmission gui using this setup, it gives me a 504 Gateway Timeout. I can connect to other services through this same nginx service.
Since the transmission is now running through the vpn would I have to setup nginx to point to the new PIA IP?
EDIT: Attempted to change the IP nginx forwards to the VPN IP, but now it gives me Bad Gateway.
If you need any outputs/logs please let me know and I will post them.
