I want to create a NAS with ubuntu server (maybe 14.04) running on a usb pendrive, i have one of 8gb, so maybe is 4gb of data and 4gb of swap, or maybe i can use a 16gb stick with 4gb of swap and 12 of data.
Anyone have a step-by-step guide to do what im thinkin?

You would just need to format your pen drive with ext4, creating the swap file is pretty easy
Code:
swapoff -a
dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=1M count=4096
chmod 600 /swapfile
mkswap /swapfile
swapon /swapfile
nano /etc/fstab
/swapfile none swap sw 0 0
Well im not a genius on linux so, im my basic knowledge is the double or the same of my RAM, the PC NAS have 4gbs of RAM so im thinking on 4gb of swap, the USB is 8gb so: 4gb (lil less of that) for "/" ext4 and the other 4gb for swap.
Now im trying to understand what you said
sorry im peruvian and i need to understand all in baby steps since english isnt my main language and i can missunderstood alot.
You said, i better format all the 8gbs and then just create a swap 4gb file, (i think windows do this with the virtual memory, maybe im wrong)
