Hi all,
Searched the forum first for a similar thread, but couldn't find any solution.
So, when I first installed plex it would run, but not update. Then I did a clean install of Raspbian and followed the "Install PMS on RPi 2" on this site, following method 3 (grabbing Synology packet to ensure latest release).
All the steps went well, no error message. Rebooted, but still no PMS running. Can't acces it via ip or localhost port 32400..
I tried sudo service plexmediaserver restart, nothing happens (also no error message).
When I try sudo service plexmediaserver start, I am prompted for a password, and he doesn't accept my regular password which works for SSH..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is your libc version?
What is output of locale command?
What happens when you run this command
Code:
cd /usr/lib/plexmediaserver
bash start.sh
Something sounds fishy with your sudo user, is it pi or did you add one? Are you using official Raspbian or Minibian?

strangely... i just come across my PMS not running.
i did a suo update and upgrade this morning.
then rebooted.
everything restarted ok apart from PMS
doing
Code:
cd /usr/lib/plexmediaserver
bash start.sh
just resulted in an (apparent) hung prompt
i then tried
Code:
sudo service plexmediaserver restart
and that seemed to kick it back into life
might not be related to OPs issues, but mine has been rock solid, and this is the first time something hasn't came back up properly after a reboot.

Thanks for the replies, unfortunately no result yet.
@Mike:
libc version
Code:
ldd (Debian GLIBC 2.19-18+deb8u1) 2.19
Copyright (C) 2014 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
output locale command
Code:
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo locale-gen
Generating locales (this might take a while)...
en_US.UTF-8... done
Generation complete.
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ locale -a
locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory
C
C.UTF-8
en_US.utf8
POSIX
when I run your command
Code:
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ cd /usr/lib/plexmediaserver
pi@raspberrypi:/usr/lib/plexmediaserver $ bash start.sh
start.sh: line 11: ./Plex Media Server: No such file or directory
@Chenks:
Note that when I run: sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade -y
I get following error at the end:
Code:
Reading package lists... Done
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13: Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?
Hope these error messages can help analyzing the problem. Thanks for the help so far,

@freddurr
I think there is an issue with using patchelf which I only recently added. Can you try rebuilding the package and not using patchelf please and let me know if it works.
You can also try this command as root
Code:
ln -s /lib/ld-linux.so.3 /lib/ld-linux-armhf.so.3
btw something is up with your sudo user which you definitely need to fix, what happens when you try this

Will check when 'm back home.
If it still wouldn't work, installing with the image from http://www.htpcguides.com/raspberry-pi-2...ler-image/ should go with latest PMS, correct?
And if not, an apt-get update && upgrade should bring it to the latest version?

Hello again,
When I do sudo -i, I can just type commands as root. Then the update and upgrade go just fine. However, PMS still not starting (even after starting the command as root).
When I try your other command as root, following error:
Code:
ln: failed to create symbolic link '/lib/ld-linux-armhf.so.3': File exists

Ok so your sudo user does work, did you try rebuilding without patchelf?
That error is a good sign, it is the symbolic link required for libc6 with Plex. What I don't understand is that running the start.sh manually seems to be failing because of a libc6 or locale error but both of those seem fine with your output.

Hi Mike,
So I just did a re-install from scratch and started the guide again but skipping the patchelf.
I have errors when trying to create symbolic links:
Code:
ln -s /lib/ld-linux.so.3 /lib/ld-linux-armhf.so.3
returns
ln:failed to create symbolic link '/lib/ld-linux-armhf.so.3': File exists.
Code:
find . -iname "*.so" -exec chmod 644 {} \;
has no problem
Code:
find . -iname "*.so.*" -exec chmod 644 {} \;
returns
find: `./Resources/Plug-ins-f38ac80/Services.bundle/Contents/Service Sets/com.plexapp.plugins.southpark': Permission denied
find: `./Resources/Plug-ins-f38ac80/Services.bundle/Contents/Service Sets/com.plexapp.plugins.sohutv': Permission denied
find: `./Resources/Plug-ins-f38ac80/Services.bundle/Contents/Service Sets/com.plexapp.plugins.soundcloud': Permission denied
