Hi Mike,
I have been plugging my way through activating your rpi v10 image. Mounted share drive, set up Samba, Transmission, Plex and CouchPotato. However, I am running into an issue with Plex and with Transmission.
1) With Plex, when I go and access the movie folder I would like to select, once I click on the "add library button", I receive a "Your changes could not be saved". Regardless of what I have tried, I am still receiving this error. Also, when I go into server settings, it says "Server settings unavailable". Not sure if these two are related.
2) With transmission, the downloads seem to hang and now transmission is not allowing me to access it via 192.168.1.X:9091. When I type that in, the browser says "waiting for 192.168.1.x:9091". On the off chance it does, the torrents are frozen and it seems nobody is able to seed off of me. I have went through and made the updates you prescribed on your page, but it does not seem to have done the trick. Additionally, the step:
Code:
sudo nano /etc/sysctl.conf
Scroll all the way to the bottom and change vm.min_free_kbytes =16384 and press Ctrl+X, Y and then Enter.
When I am in sysctl.conf, there is no vm.min_free_kbytes to even alter in the list. Not sure if there was something I was missing.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
John

Sorry for the late reply. On the page with the media server installer ready image there should be a message saying it is advised to build your own image using the installer.
What you have is a permission issue, plex is running as the pi user I think so it needs to be changed in the /etc/default/plexmediaserver file.
The same goes for transmission.
Yes the line vm.min_free_kbytes should be added if it is not there, will add this to the guide so it is more clear.

Hi Mike,
So it looks like the issue with plex was forcing plexmediaserver to upgrade itself. For some reason, it was not allowing me to claim the rpi, access the server menu and ultimately get it going again. So back on track with plex.
However, I am still running into transmission running horribly slow and freezing after 1 launch. I tried upgrading this, but I am running the most current version currently. So I am at a loss as to what is bogging my system down.
Suffice to say, your guide has caused me to re-think torrents and move towards usenets, so aside from me wanting to be altruistic and seed linux distros, I might need to just use the usenet process and see how I like that.
So at least in my case, the not being able to save in plex wcan be fixed by trying to force upgrade plexmediaserver.
Thanks!
John

Hi Mike,
No worries! Believe it or not, I was able to figure out the transmission issue. For some reason, if I select the "enable blocklist" under the wrench, the horribly slow/crashing goes away. So it is working like a charm now. I will add your code back as stated as it could not hurt.
Now on to build out the usenet features of the build! Hope you have a nice Friday!

Make sure that garten of banbanthe permissions for the movie folder are set correctly, allowing Plex to access and write to it.
