No luck, I can have listen=NO and listen_ipv6=YES or listen=YES and listen_ipv6=NO and I can connect local but no port 21 outside. The same after disabling IPv6.

I actually have some problem which made me stop us e ftp until it is resolved. It seems that no matter what command I use I can't seem to change the permissions on my maps and files. I now noticed it in filezilla and over samba it's actually the same. All permissions are 777 and they should be 755.
Have been wondering to maybe start formatting my harddrives to ext4, because it would give less problem to change the permissions, I only wonder if it will give problems with samba? Will it still give me the option to write to and delete from over a windows computer?

Here is my samba configuration: http://hastebin.com/civaqumimu.vala I installed it with your guide. The problem is also with ftp. But I read a lot about ntfs, linux and permission is not the best combination. I tried a ot of things but no succes.
Anyway, I was planning to change to ext4 for a long time and I finally managed to get enough free space to do it so I'm just going for it. I already did one harddrive and it's almost double the speed so it looks good.
So one little question. I'm moving files from my ntfs hdd to my ext4 hdd. When I log in as pi in putty the permission don't change until I do sudo chown -R pi:pi /mnt/usbstorage2 and sudo chmod -R 775 /mnt/usbstorage2 if I log in as root in putty the permission change to 600.
Is this now just because I'm moving files from one harddrive to the other? Or is this some problem that will keep returning every time I write something to the disk?

Hmm very interesting, I can't see why you are getting 777 based on the samba or ftp settings.
NTFS-3g tries to emulate linux persmissions on a windows files system so things can go a bit weird.
Is your hard drive mounted with pi as the owner? Did you use the setfacl command from the properly mount hard drive?

Yes they where both mounted with pi as owner and I did use the setfacl command with my properly mounted hard drives. When I retried chown and chmod and you could hear the harddrive starting and running so something was happening but never where the permissions changed.
Anyway I have them formatted in ext4 now and they seem to be going fine, in the beginning it seemed I had some permission issues but now it seems ok.
Is it just me, or do I really have a lot of issues?
Looks like with everything I do, every installation something goes wrong and it's not my own fault, at least not most of the time.

Things get easier the more times you do them, I can imagine you will have fewer issues with ext4.

It's fun to try things and experiment but at some moments so frustrating when something doesn't work how you want.
But it is true, I learned quiet a lot since I started with it. And I guess mostly thanks to you. Very complete guides and always a quick response.
Just wondering if there is a faster way to copy files? Now I'm using Samba and tried ftp but it's only 2 - 2,5 MB/s. I tried to find something to mount ext4 on windows and be able to write but that doesn't seem possible. Yes found one program Paragon ExtFS but the reviews are so bad I'm not going to risk it.
Or just use a second harddrive with ntfs formatted and use that to transfer from windows computer to raspberry pi.

Still a little issue with my permissions. If I upload through samba they files get 774 instead of 775 and with filezilla with ftp they all get 664. Maps do get the right 775 permission.
I chown, chmod and setfacl like described in the mount guide but I noticed it only took effect if I did after I mounted the harddrive, not like in the guide before.
Edit: Also Sonarr gives file permission 644 but there it's possible to have Sonarr set permissions itself.

So after some testing I see that most programs give permission 755 on maps and 644 on files. Not really a drama and I will put the right permissions in the configuration of Sonarr and Couchpotato but isn't the setfacl command supposed to change the permissions?
Formatting to ext4 has been a blessing, my hard drive is so much faster and so quiet. Also found the command sudo tune2fs -m 0 /dev/sda1 it gives you back your lost space but only to do on a hard drive that's only used for file storage, on my 1TB it was a nice 50GB I got back.
