Yes , facl should force the correct permissions. In Sonarr and CouchPotato you can set the umask yourself to 022 for 755 permissions (but Sonarr complains, the right one @manne confirmed is on the NZBGet or Sonarr configuration guide pages.
Very cool about tune2fs, excellent to know a new trick.
In your /etc/fstab you should be able to change the umask=022

It supposed to look like this right: UUID=0d0c4935-1647-4cdf-8e1b-e091ad497a43 /mnt/usbstorage2 ext4 nofail,umask=022 0 0 ?
If I do this it doesn't mount my hard drive when I reboot. Also tried 0022 but no luck, the last thing I tried was remove nofail and only use the umask but this made it happen that my raspberry wouldn't boot anymore...
It says Welcome in safe mode or something like that and than your stuck and need to use a backup.

@mike I had to set the umask in nzbget to 007 (setting > security)
Sonarr has the default set permission off
Mike and Yveske
This should be the way to go in the /etc/fstab/ for ext4:
Code:
UUID=1bf901d2-0442-4b94-b847-d5d1c3dc21e1 /mnt/usbstorage ext4 nofail,defaults 0 0
I don't remember where I read it but I don't think you can set umask as an option in the fstab for ext4.
As I said earlier, you have to set the umask in nzbget to 007, if you don't sonarr will give you errors.
After editing the /etc/fstab/ I did this:
Make pi the owner of the mounted drive and make its permissions read, write and execute for it.
(Only for current files/folders)
Code:
sudo chown -R pi:pi /mnt/usbstorage
sudo chmod -R 775 /mnt/usbstorage
Set all current/future files/directories in parent directory to 775 with specified owner/group
Code:
sudo setfacl -Rdm g:pi:rwx /mnt/usbstorage
sudo setfacl -Rm g:pi:rwx /mnt/usbstorage

@manne I didn't had the defaults part added in the fstab file. So I did that and changed the umask in NZBGet but my file permissions still stay 644 and map 775. Which I actually can live with.
@Mike the permission hell continues... Today I noticed that subtitles I downloaded with Kodi where saved in a place where they shouldn't, normally they should save next to the videofile but now they where in a place I haven't figured out yet. I also had to re-download the subtitle every time I would restart a video, so Kodi couldn't remember where the file was. When I changed my map permission back to 777 (like it was with ntfs) the issue was resolved but because this isn't very safe I went looking for another solution, which I found.
I changed user kodi to user pi.
Code:
sudo usermod -a -G audio pi
sudo usermod -a -G video pi
sudo usermod -a -G input pi
sudo usermod -a -G dialout pi
sudo usermod -a -G plugdev pi
sudo usermod -a -G tty pi
And then I changed USER=kodi in the file /etc/default/kodi to USER=pi and this resolved the issue as well. I only had to configure Kodi again to my wishes and re-scan my libraries. Only the subtitles save with permission 664 but it's not going to keep me awake.
Only thing I wonder is if I should remove user kodi? Or wherever Kodi stored all the information while it was still under user kodi. Or should I just leave it because it's doesn't take that much of disk space? Deleted user kodi and had no problems at all.
I also tried a fresh install but because I could not get port 21 to open again I went back to my old installation. But I did notice while installing Sonarr I already had a https error while installing libmono-cil-dev, so maybe moving the https installing command to the begin of the guide is not a bad idea?

@manne I added defaults but I didn't notice any differences and I had to remove it again because for some reason it started changing my 2,5" hard drive, that is powered by my pi, from sdb to sdc. This happened while the pi was running and the hard drive was mounted, after 30 minutes or so. When I rebooted it went back to sdb but after a while it changed again to sdc.

Ok so I found out that Kodi was storing the sub files in the kodi temp file of the kodi user. That explains it why kodi couldn't reload the file when I would replay a video file.
So I think I've got everything figured out now, except port 21 of course but that's something for when I have two devices.
For now I go enjoy a few movies

This happens when you don't use the UUID as the guide recommends!
What was the https error for installing libmono-cil-dev?
Enjoy your movies

That's the thing @Mike I always use the UUID:
UUID=2ad8ff56-41e4-49a2-8ae8-b0996e6ff733 /mnt/usbstorage2 ext4 nofail 0 0
and when I added defaults behind nofail the problem started.
And it was through samba that I noticed it and for that the path is /mnt/usbstorage. The moment I removed defaults the problem was gone.
I got E: The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/https could not be found, the same one like you mention in the guide.
But now that I look at it, it doesn't really make sense.
It's just that after sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get install libmono-cil-dev the installation past and at the end there was this message about https could not be found, I didn't pay much attention to about why or because of what and installed it and went on with it. It's even possible I had the message before and I just didn't notice.
So I guess looking at it now that it's not your guide but something else that used or started using https instead of http.
So my mistake. But not the UUID

@Mike so the sdb to sdc problem started again today, out of nowhere, without the defaults added in fstab.
I'm now testing with labeling my hard drive, also changed it in the fstab file to label instead of uuid. But not sure if that will help, the problem is that it changes for sdb to sdc while running and not on boot. I guess that's the reason the hard drive isn't mounted anymore.
And otherwise I guess I will have to try formatting back to ntfs and see if the problem still returns, never had the problem then.

That is very strange, which distro are you using?
Something must be causing the hard drive to dismount, are you getting sufficient power?
I'd be surprised if it works better with NTFS but hey, whatever is reliable.
