I'd love to have a guide for Pynab, I think I have mentioned it before, but I'm posting here so you don't forget

hehe thanks for all your work on HTPC Manager. I do have a rough guide for pynab somewhere. I believe the documentation wasn't that great so it made it challenging to get the web server part up and running. After I post tomorrow I will take a look at pynab again and I'm sure we can make it work together. I have PMed you the guide so far, please let me know if it works or any issues you encounter.

Is there any chance I could get a copy of that guide? I have been failing for months and just can't get pynab running.
Thanks

I will send it to you after a slight mocification xvpx, I was in touch with the pynab developer to get a small fix in so you don't need to have a newznab + subscription for the regexes. Reply here if at the end of the day you don't have the rough guide in a PM.
EDIT: sent, please let me know if you get it working. During my last test everything worked but the web server and the regex, since then the pynab developer added the nzedb regexes to the development branch so I adjusted the instructions to use that branch.

Ok, first issue:
Code:
sudo git clone -b development https://github.com/Murodese/pynab /opt/pynab
This branch doesn't exist, there is only a development-postgres branch. Is this the correct one? Will it work with MySQL?

My apologies, it is that branch, here is the important pull request to make it work https://github.com/Murodese/pynab/blob/d...le.py#L288
So use that one
The master branch worked with mysql and I expect the development branch to too, the default is just postgres

Ok, I am at the point of running the API but am receiving permission errors. I am running this as my user, no sudo.
Code:
python3 pynab.py api
Traceback (most recent call last):

import pynab.util
File "/opt/pynab/pynab/__init__.py", line 80, in <module>

return open(self.baseFilename, self.mode, encoding=self.encoding)
PermissionError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/log/pynab/pynab.log'
Here is the folder permissions for /var/log/pynab:
Code:
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Nov 5 13:53 pynab
And the files:
Code:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 153 Nov 5 13:07 install.log
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 204 Nov 5 16:35 pynab.log
The actual log file:
Code:
cat /var/log/pynab/pynab.log
2015-11-05 13:53:45 INFO log: started pynab logger
2015-11-05 13:54:38 INFO log: started pynab logger
2015-11-05 16:35:04 INFO log: started pynab logger
2015-11-05 16:35:20 INFO log: started pynab logger
And for giggles run with sudo:
Code:
sudo python3 pynab.py api
pynab:api: ERROR (abnormal termination)

I have a bad habit of doing tests as root (sudo annoys me) in the initial stages of guide preparation.
Were you able to get releases from headers?
Try changing permissions of the /var/log/pynab folder
Code:
sudo chown -R user:user /var/log/pynab
Abnormal termination is probably thrown because you ran it without sudo permissions the first time, maybe rebooting will help.
I never saw that error but it could have been because of a branch difference or because I was foolishly using root.
Has everything else worked up until then? Installation, enabling groups, grabbing headers, making releases?
