I'm trying to set up a Pi 2 as download machine. On Raspbian I've installed SABnzbd and Sonarr. In Sonarr I've added some indexers and SABnzbd as download client.
I want to set things up so that Sonarr looks at the files on my NAS and adds new files to those folders. So I've mounted two folders from that NAS (Movies and TV Series) in Raspbian on the Pi.
Both folders work fine. I can access them and the contents on the Pi.
But when I try to to add a new series to Sonarr, or import existing series on disk, and point to the mounted share, Sonarr does not allow me to choose that folder. I can browse to the folder alright, and Sonarr even shows me the subfolders, but when I click the green check-mark nothing happens. If I choose any other 'normal' folder (not a mounted share) that folder is added without problems, so I guess this has to do with the folder being a mounted share.
Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks,
BJ

Sounds like a permissions problem, the permissions should match everywhere.
That said I do remember there being some issues with Sonarr and mounted network drives see here
Check the Sonarr logs for clues about why nothing is happening.

Thanks for your reply.
I should have started by saying I'm very new to this. So I read the article about networkshares. Used rcconf to stop sonarr as a service and, after a rebout, started sonarr manually. This did nothing to solve the problem, unfortunately.
But when I started Sonarr with --debug activated and then tried to add the mounted share, it showed an error that confirmed your suspicion about the permissions:
[v2.0.0.3953] System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Root folder path '/home/pi/SERVER/TV_Series/' is not writable by user 'pi'
I tried to change the permisson by sudo chown -R pi:root TV_Series but get the following error:
chown: changing ownership of ‘TV_Series’: Permission denied
Same for the other shares
Is there any other option to change the ownership of those mounted shares?
Thanks

You change the owner of mounted shares in the /etc/fstab file or when you mount the share manually.
You do not want root to be the group owner of your shares for sure, try unmounting then setting the permissions with chown and then remount either manually or with /etc/fstab

I cannot find a description of how to change the owner of the shares in the fstab file. Or at least none that er simple enough for me to understand.
If I wanted to change to ownerschip of the Movies share, to pi. How would I change the fstab file? Doe I add a line, or do I change this line:
//192.168.1.2/Movies /home/pi/SERVER/Movies cifs username=fake,password=fake,workgroup=fake,users,auto,user_xattr 0 0
Sorry for all the n00b questions.

To edit the file. Do this:
Code:
sudo nano /etc/fstab
Then you should see something like this. This is how mine looks like: (I have mounted /mnt/usbstorage and my filesystem is ext4
Code:
UUID=1bf901d2-0442-4b94-b847-d5d1c3dc21e1 /mnt/usbstorage ext4 nofail,defaults 0 0
Then Set all current/future files/directories in parent directory to 775 with specified owner/group
sudo setfacl -Rdm g:pi:rwx /mnt/usbstorage
sudo setfacl -Rm g:pi:rwx /mnt/usbstorage

Thanks for the reply.
My mount is a (Windows, NTFS) NAS share, not an USB drive, but I guess the process is largely the same.
I made a new mount point
sudo mkdir /mnt/tvseries
Then edited /etc/fstab. Removed the old mount point and added the new one like this
//192.168.1.2/tvseries /mnt/tvseries cifs username=xxxxx,password=xxxxx,workgroup=xxxxx,users,auto,user_xattr 0 0
Then I did
sudo setfacl -Rdm g:pi:rwx /mnt/tvseries
sudo setfacl -Rm g:pi:rwx /mnt/tvseries
No errors, all went fine. I can access the shares in Raspbian. But the error in Sonarr is still the same:
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Root folder path '/mnt/tvseries/' is not writable by user 'pi'
Am I doing something stupid here?

Try being explicit about the owner
Code:
sudo chown pi:pi /mnt/tvseries
This part could be getting you in trouble
Code:
users,auto,user_xattr
I haven't mounted too many cifs shares but when I do my /etc/fstab looks like this
Code:
//networkip/share /local/linux/foldermountpoint cifs defaults,username=usernameonwindows,password=passwordonwindows 0 0

sonarr needs read and write permission. how does your NAS work? Can you see any error logs in the NAS config? Can you grant access to the PI in the NAS?
Just as a tip. The best forum for asking for sonarr questions is here:
https://forums.sonarr.tv/
post the steps you have taken and what system you are running and I'm almost sure you will get help there. Marcus101 is great and replies fast.

- I created a new mount point (/mnt/tvseries),
- did sudo chown pi:pi /mnt/tvseries,
- edited the /etc/fstab file and removed users,auto,user_xattr
Again I can access the mount just fine, but unfortunately the error in Sonarr is exactly the same

Thanks for the reply.
The server doesnt show any access errors in the log. I can add 'pi' as user but that unfortunately does not solve the problem.
I'll go over to the sonarr forums and hopefully Marcus101 will have some tips.
Nevertheless, even if it didn't work out yet, I learned quite a lot from all the help in this forum. Many thanks to all here for that!
