What's the worst thing that could happen if you try to install over the new one that doesn't work?
Make a backup of your settings in plex if you can. Try to install over. If fail. Remove plex complete and do a new install. (just make a backup of what you got now so you don't mess things more :p)

Is there any easy way to remove the plex in linux, before I install the older version?

@mike?
Tried to remove the current one, with both commands...
pi@raspberrypi:/ $ sudo dpkg -r plexmediaserver
dpkg: warning: ignoring request to remove plexmediaserver which isn't installed
And
sudo apt-get remove plexmediaserver
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package 'plexmediaserver' is not installed, so not removed
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
But nothing to remove...
I am not strong in Linux, so bare with me ok ?
And again to you all - thx for your patience and help so far....getting closer to the downgrade

Hi again...I have stopped the server, but it still says that the plexmediaserver is not installed
sudo dpkg -r plexmediaserver
dpkg: warning: ignoring request to remove plexmediaserver which isn't installed

Try
sudo aptitude -f purge plexmediaserver
If it doesn't work, try these commands:
sudo rm -f /etc/init.d/plexmediaserver
sudo dpkg --purge --force-all plexmediaserver

Done...same result, however this command deleted some of it sudo rm -f /etc/init.d/plexmediaserver
And still can't install with the one that Mike described, permission rights due to file still exist.
Now I am stuck
