I am struggling to see why it's not starting but restarting works. I thought it was a permission issue but it doesn't seem like that's the case. I'd go for the monit route, the guide has been updated so the monitrc configuration should work out of the box

I suspected it was something about Transmission starting before the network was initialized. It turns out that was true.
Quote:transmission-daemon[485]: sendto: network is unreachable
I had a friend take a look and he was able to tweak the .service file to start the Daemon after network.start. Also the rc.local file remains tweaked or patched to sleep, wait, and start the daemon.

Yay log data, this is what we needed. I will make a note of this and update the guides. Well done for sticking through it and solving the issue. Seems like this really should be the default in the Transmission systemd service.

Hy Everyone,
I have nearly the same problem. I will try to give you as much as info I can about my system.
First of all I used this tutorial: http://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-torrentbox/ Unfortunately I could not get your tutorial to work.
So my problem is that after startup I can not connect my web gui. Even if I write in the terminal that command:
Code:
sudo service transmission-daemon start (or stop and than start)
I get back this:
Warning: Unit file of transmission-daemon.service changed on disk, 'systemctl daemon-reload' recommended.
If I used that command below and start the service it is working fine
Code:
systemctl daemon-reload
sudo service transmission-daemon start
Thats how my /lib/systemd/system/transmission-daemon.service looks like
Quote:[Unit]
Description=Transmission BitTorrent Daemon
After=network.target
[Service]
User=pi
Type=notify
ExecStart=/usr/bin/transmission-daemon -f --log-error
ExecReload=/bin/kill -s HUP $MAINPID
[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
For this:
Code:
sudo find / -iname transmission-daemon.service
I get back this:
Quote:/lib/systemd/system/transmission-daemon.service
/var/lib/systemd/deb-systemd-helper-enabled/multi-user.target.wants/transmission-daemon.service
/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/transmission-daemon.service
For the command below I did not get back anything.
Code:
sudo find / -iname transmision-daemon
I tried to disable and enable the service but I am still unable to connect to the web gui.
Code:
sudo systemctl disable transmission-daemon.service
sudo systemctl enable transmission-daemon.service
Disable:
Quote:Synchronizing state for transmission-daemon.service with sysvinit using update-r c.d...
Executing /usr/sbin/update-rc.d transmission-daemon defaults
Executing /usr/sbin/update-rc.d transmission-daemon disable
insserv: warning: current start runlevel(s) (empty) of script `transmission-daemon' overrides LSB defaults (2 3 4 5).
insserv: warning: current stop runlevel(s) (0 1 2 3 4 5 6) of script `transmission-daemon' overrides LSB defaults (0 1 6).
Enable:
Quote:Synchronizing state for transmission-daemon.service with sysvinit using update-r c.d...
Executing /usr/sbin/update-rc.d transmission-daemon defaults
insserv: warning: current start runlevel(s) (empty) of script `transmission-daemon' overrides LSB defaults (2 3 4 5).
insserv: warning: current stop runlevel(s) (0 1 2 3 4 5 6) of script `transmission-daemon' overrides LSB defaults (0 1 6).
Executing /usr/sbin/update-rc.d transmission-daemon enable
For this:
Code:
netstat -lntp ps aux | grep transmission
I get back this:
Quote:tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:51413 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 490/transmission-da
tcp6 0 0 :::51413 :::* LISTEN 490/transmission-da
If I, "sudo service transmission-daemon start" after boot, Transmission will not load.
Even if I, "sudo service transmission-daemon stop" then I "sudo service transmission-daemon start," Transmission does not load.
I can get it work only with this command "sudo service transmission-daemon reload" then it loads fine.
What can be the problem? I dont understand why I get back this if I want to start the service first without reloading it first
Warning: Unit file of transmission-daemon.service changed on disk, 'systemctl daemon-reload' recommended.
Here is my setting:

Viktor are you on Raspbian Jessie or Wheezy? Which of my tutorials did you follow for Transmission?
It looks like that tutorials mixes init.d and systemd, are you on WiFi?

I am on Raspbian Jessie. I could not get your tutorial to work so I used different one, what I linked in my previous post. I was on wifi but now I am on lan. Wifi was way too slow. I have a RPi 3.
btw: I had to changed wifi password on my router cause I didnt know how to switch the wifi off on my Pi

Viktor, you said one of my tutorials for Transmission didn't work, that is what I need to test . I understand you used the pimylifeup one afterwards. I need to know the original one from my site that you used.
