[Solved]

Hi everyone,
I have Kodi installed on my Raspberry Pi 2 with the guide from this website. Now I always have had this problem that with a few shows (actually it are all non-US shows like Dr. Who, You, me and the Apocalypse, Crossing Lines,...) they all have a problem with a stuttering image. Most of the time it just disappears after a few seconds but sometimes it stays the whole time also when I skip to a certain point it keeps stuttering all the time as well.
I do have the solution of every time changing the decoding method from hardware to software, but I was wondering if there was maybe an easier solution for this problem.
Thanks a lot.

1. Have you tried OpenElec? if yes. Do you have the same problem there?
2. Do you run your movies from the network, mounted external drive or from the pi?
3. Have you tried increasing the gpu_mem from 128 to 256?
sudo nano /boot/config.txt
gpu_mem=256
(save and reboot)
What kind of movie quality do have problems with? SD, 720p, 1080P?

1. On OpenElec it seems to be working fine.
2. My videos run from a mounted external drive.
3. Had already tried to increase the gpu_mem but no luck.
4. Most of my files are SD, sometimes 720p but mainly SD. But the problem appears only with a few shows, like I described in my first post, even though almost all my files are SD.

Well, if it works on openelec then it's not hardware related.
Which OS do you run? Raspbian? Minibian? Wheezy/Jessie?
Do you have many running services in the background?
I have one RPI2 with openelec and one with minibian jessie, both runs well with kodi and I play mostly SD and 720p.

The OS I run is Minibian Wheezy installed with the image and guide from this website.
Next to Kodi runs: Sonarr, CouchPotato, NZBGet, Transmission and HTPC Manager.
The strange thing is that it's just a few particular shows. If it was a memory thing or something like that it would have to happen with all my shows.
It's also not the file format, it happend with mp4, mkv.

Is it the same show all the time all episodes? Same release group?

It seems like all non-US shows I have, have this problem. All my UK, Belgian, French,... shows. Never a US show.
I once tried downloading different releases from one episode and they all had the same problem, no matter what the format, the quality.
The only solution I found till now is changing between hardware and software for decoding.
I know it looks weird and even impossible but this is what happening. And have been Googling the problem before but never found a solution.

I'm trying to figure it out too
are you using subtitles? have you tried disabling if yes.
can you check which kodi version you have?
do you have an extra sd card for testing? can you try to install latest minibian with jessie and kodi. nothing else.

This is a weird issue, the Kodi repo used for the installation guide is maintained by Michael Gorven so it's possible he compiles Kodi differently which causes the problem.

I use subtitle but the problem is already there before I download them so that's not it either.
I still have the Kodi Helix 14.2 installed from the Michael Gorven repo. But I will try some testing on my spare sd card and see if with some installation the problem disappears.
Yes it's a weird issue, well I have a workaround so it's not a drama, but always nice to find the real problem and fix that.
I know that it's Michael Gorven's repo in the guide but a lot of people use this one so you should expect to find something about the problem if you Google it.
Anyway, I keep you guys posted and thanks for your time.
