I've followed the guide for split tunnel VPN use and got it working - thanks to the guide authors again.
Extending this I idea it occurred to me an easier solution would be to setup a Pi dedicated to the one task of torrent downloading through a VPN.
I started with a fresh DietPi image and installed transmission-daemon and openvpn.
Both start on boot and using the test torrent in your guide transmission tells me my IP is the IP of the VPN provider.
So this on the surface was pretty easy - no need for IP tables, reverse proxy etc - or have I missed anything?
Will this be as secure as the split tunnel scheme you describe?
