VPN

Australia is starting to tighten the net on torrents and has passed data retention laws, so I think it's time for me to stop being so cheap and invest in a VPN.

I will be running it on my main PC (windows machine) for general surfing and torrents, my Banana Pi (this is important as it eventually be my 24/7 torrent box) and occassionally a couple of iphones when we're on public wifi.

The main priority is protecting me while torrenting, secondly general privacy and thirdly to occasionally get around geoblocking. For this reason I need something that is fast for torrents and streaming.

My internet connection syncs at 9000/500, from my research I have read that VPNs don't really affect speed as much on slower ADSL2 connections compared to fibre.

I was going to get PIA, they have a deal at the moment for 12 months for $37. They seem to get mixed reviews though, especially in Australia. Someone recommended TigerVPN as they have a deal for 24 months for $49 and they support torrents. Both are listed by torrentfreak as recommended VPNs.

I'm not sure if they will both work on my Banana Pi though.

Money is a factor, as I am on a budget at the moment, but both services are within my price range.

VPNs really need to be tried to see if they work for you, PIA is popular because it works for most and is very affordable. Since both use OpenVPN on linux it should be easy to set up. However, Private Internet Access does have 5 simultaneous connections meaning you can use 5 separate devices concurrently, I don't know if TigerVPN do that and couldn't find anything on their features page.

That is a good point.  TigerVPN only has 1 connection.  I might wait till my Pi is all setup and running (see my other thread) before I signup for PIA then.

I just noticed PureVPN has a buy one year get one year free offer at the moment.  Now I am stuck between PIA and PureVPN.  They are the two you recommend on this site, which makes it even harder  :p
Which do you think would be better for torrents?

You can always try PureVPN and if it doesn't live up to your expectations ask for a refund. I remember them having a good return policy
