FLIRC remote with Harmony and Windows PC

Hello,

Currently I have a remote and usb dongle that do RF.    If I use my media PC strictly for plex playback, I was thinking about trying out the FLIRC but for some reason I'm having a hard time really finding out much. 

Does anyone here use a FLIRC with their Harmony remote using IR only (no hub) to a Windows PC?

I saw a video that says you need to use a remote to teach the flirc the commands - since my remote is RF not IR - I wouldn't be able to teach it using an existing remote.

Is Flirc in the harmony software as a device?

Any info you can give about your experience would be helpful.
