Originaly posted here : http://www.htpcguides.com/orange-pi-plus...ler-image/ as a comment but advised to post as a forum post (side note joining the forum was not easy, had no idea what htpc stood for, and yay another password to remember, different password for each site i use pretty much now means i dont have room for any childhood memories lol )
the original post:
So, just ordered a orange pi plus, it was a huge internal debate between that and banana pi .....hope I made the right choice!.
Now all my media is stored on a usb drive (that will be connected to the sata port), plex serves that to my laptop at work (shhhh don't tell the boss ). Ever since I updated the external hard drive plex has been unable to update the library, gets to the tv part and the updating symbol never goes away)
This is one reason to update (all the fixes I have tried have failed so I need to redo the os anyway).
How ever assuming I use your media server install (and given my laziness and love for all things pre-done, that's a high chance):
1) is there a way I can tell the new plex what shows have been "watched" from the old plex with out the chance of the nasty non updating bug?
2) will I need to do anything to the hard drive other then take it out of the caddy and plug it into the pi? (its ntfs, if that helps)
3) I use sonar, is there a way to take its list of shows to watch for and shows already grabbed and inject it into a new install of sonar ?
4) is there a list of where all the config files are located ? (I have a set list of ports I tend to use , weirdly I never trust default ports)
Sorry for the tons of questions, seems info on the orange pi plus is rather hard to come by.
Additional:
1) Its rather worrying that there is no orange pi section, just raspberry and banana .... have i made a costly mistake?
2) Though the comment was posted a fair few days ago the pi has not yet arrived so they are still relevent.
3) Additional question: when trying to find the info out myself i found a few saying that a heat sink is needed, yet its the same specs as the pi and that has never needed a heatsink, is this just paranoia or is it actually needed? and if it is where can i get one thats not Aliexpress (they are incredably slow shippers) Orange Pi boards

You certainly are security conscious . There are password lockers available for different browsers you may like. Thanks for joining here, I hope you find it easy to use.
I am pretty sure Plex synchronizes your watched list per user with plex.tv so you shouldn't need to do anything. If it doesn't show up there is probably a database somewhere which you may be able to find with this command
Code:
find / -name *.db | grep plex
I have never tried moving an NTFS drive from one linux box to another, the only issue I can think of is the ntfs-3g driver may do something to link it to a specific device but somehow I doubt it. You should be able to just mount it the same way you did on your current device.
For Sonarr there is definitely a database of shows that you can import in sqlite database form somewhere in the /opt/NzbDrone folder. However, Sonarr makes it easy to import shows from a disk so it may not be worth doing. To avoid issues you will want to mount the drive in the same mount point e.g. /mnt/usbstorage
Sonarr has a way to back up settings, so does NZBGet. For CouchPotato and other software there is a config.ini file which you can back up.
Additional Questions
You have not made a costly mistake if you are using it as a server, any issues people have with them have to do with audio and video on the device itself and doesn't concern you.
The heat sink being necessary is an old issue as far as I understand and was related to a kernel issue which has since been resolved and is included in my image IIRC - I could be wrong though, I remember reading it in this thread.
I got a heat sink off eBay but I don't use it, I can find the link for you if you want though.

too many times i have recieved the "we are sorry but our services were hacked, we dont think they got anything but please change your password and all passwords related to it",
https://haveibeenpwned.com/ shows my email address is in the leak data of 5 different sites
During the hack of psn years back they got my email address and password (unique to psn at the time) discovered that on another site (legit security site that showed me the first two characters of my password, enough to know it was indeed mine)
we live in an annoying time
Wonder if i would be better of converting the drive to what ever rasbian uses on the orange? would that make the drive more stable, better? i have more then enough hard drive space about to be able to back up the drive then format it.....putting the data back from a back up could be interesting guessing that would have to be an ftp job.
Glad i dont need to worry about the heatsink! that had got me nervous, would be cool to see the ebay listing anyway, just incase (searching for orange pi on ebay generates a lot of orange pi cases and orange stuff but no orange pi stuff, for me atleast)
yep no need for audio and video, it will go up on the top shelf out of sight and mind
I did sit there trying to work out if i could use the rasberry pi as part of the process to speed stuff up:
cant use it to download, main reason for the orange is the gigabyte lan so i can get the full 200mb download speed of my network (works out at 24mb/s according to steam)
cant use it as the tv show finder, and really would be the benifit if i did? the shows will be stored on the hard drive of the orange anyway and the downloader will be on the orange.
cant run it as plex server, the media will be on a different pi.
I feel the future of my raspberry pi is not good, poor little guy.
cool on the other stuff, just need to get my hands on the orange pi so i can get it all started (just a week or two to go now lol)

Sorry I'm a bit late, was having trouble finding the post with the heatsink and fan for the Orange Pi Plus and here they are!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/5pc-14x14x11mm-A...2edc543e76
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10Pcs-Gold-14mm-...3395719b62
http://www.ebay.com/itm/5V-30x30x7mm-DC-...20e6ab69b0
It would be a good idea to use the ext4 file system as that's what Linux supports natively. I can't say for sure if it will improve stability or reliability but it shouldn't hurt.

the orange pi arrived today, finally !
im downloading the image file listed on the page, bit concerned it says ubuntu, thought ubuntu was desktop os not server os?
at this stage i have no idea how to format the hard drive, what the hosts part of the guide is all about, what Ubooquity is, and rather terrified of the power adapter that came with the pi lol
its going to be a long day

Ubuntu has a desktop and a server version. The one you are downloading is a server version
Formatting the hard drive is similar to what is done on this guide (just use the ext4 part).
Ubooquity is optional
The installer should do the heavy lifting but I am interested in how you successfully migrate everything over so do post details of that if you can.

the installer at the moment seems to be doing a lot of stuff lol havent chosen what to install yet (half debating switching from nzbget to sabnzbd, just prefer the interface)
copying across hit a snag, my media hard drive appears to be damaged, when i try to copy media across it fails ...not all media just some (tested with usb and directly hooked to my pc with sata) so im using a semi spare 2tb hard drive that means i need to tell sonarr all the tv shows again and which episodes im up to on each one (arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh) i couldnt understand or find the database
not formated the external drive yet (only just saw the reply, it didnt email me) if i understand correctly i can just follow any banana guide for the orange? just not the raspberry guides? (ok theres a phrase that makes me sound insane lol)
EDIT
the instaled does seem to be taking a long time to install stuff and so far hasnt asked me what uports to set the stuff up on (sure it said it was going to)
If your looking for stuff to add to it though https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/h...-nginx.50/ i normally have that then i use a webpage made to display the stream, that means my co host in live streams can go to myip/live and see a live preview of the stream (normally less then a second delay) meanwhile the rtmp server can bounce the stream to twitch and/or youtube and/or hitbox etc, allowing one stream to be on multiple sites (being careful not to go nuts as each stream and the cohost watching take up a portion of the upload)

eeek major bug with it!

crontab isnt working!
given sonarr has a nasty habbit of closing itself i tend to add the command to start it in crontab so that every hour it either says no its already running or restarts it, had hoped it would be ok on the orange pi but its already closed itself twice now

The Sonarr guides for arm should say to remove the sonarr repo, it does not have mono packages in it but still contains mono dependencies (very silly I know, I have asked the Sonarr crew to fix it). The installer should remove the Sonarr repo upon completion of installation. To fix it all you have to do is remove the sonarr repo in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/, apt-get update and then install cron.
The device likely wasn't freezing but just compiling, unless it sits there for several hours it has likely not crashed.
What do you mean Sonarr just closes itself?
