have just installed PMS on Pi2 using the downloaded image minibian with modified plex.js.
all running and content showing up all ok.
however when i go to try and play anything from my various it fails on everything.
Nexus player - fails saying can't play content.
chrome web - 'there was problem playing this content"
nexus 5 - refused to play after various errors complaining about format and transcoding
the content is MKV h264 some 1080p DTS5.1 and DD5.1 some 720 DTS5.1
all files play fine when on my other plex server on windows so i know the files are fine.
so what might the problem be?
ps - also i can't seem to upgrade from 0.9.12.4

chenks, recently Plex made an update that requires some specific libc6 version and the Plex apps on your Android devices and others have been udpated to a later version that does not work with older versions of PMS. So you need to try the jessie image or follow the instructions on the guide page to force Wheezy to update to a newer libc6 version so you can update to the newest version of PMS.
Hope that made sense, it's late here

ah ok, i just assumed that any system images made available would already be up to date.
where is the jessie image?
i'm happy to wipe and install from scratch again if necessary.
edit - ignore me, see the jessie image on the page

installed the jessie image, but plex doesn't seem to be accessible at all.
localhost:32400/web/ just brings up the usual "ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED" message
the plexmediaserver service appears to be running though

Why localhost instead of the IP address, do you have a web browser open on the Pi so that localhost should work?
Did you use the Jessie image with plex pre-installed or did you use the Installer Image and install Plex that way?
There is a note at the top of the Plex guide to use the Installer image if there are issues with the Jessie Plex image (it works for me but it may be newer PMS restricts to the network device it was installed on or something funny like that).

the installer has worked, PMS now running.
all content is playing fine as well.
on the nexus player the video direct plays and the audio transcodes.
