Any other solution that I'm missing other than altering the Plex app? I need something that is only pi based, so that anyone who visits (or babysits) can use my Plex from their devices.

You could use the dummy DNS and have the wireless router use the Pi as a DNS server. You can do this with bind9 in the thread you already perused.
Let us know if you get it to work.

Have you looked into alternatives like setting up a RasPlex device connected to the TV?
Is there some reason users must use myplex (which is the source of practically all Plex issues)?

Thanks for responding... I have another Pi set up as a Pi Hole blocking ads on my network (the router is set to go to the pi for a dns. I currently have 5-6 devices that can use Plex at any time, so using RasPlex on a TV wouldn't be feasible. My main tv is ok because I have a Nvidia Shield accessing Plex. The 4 other tvs have Chromecasts, hence the problem. I don't mind only having 1 stream going, but I don't want to carry a Pi room to room to access Plex.

OK, I see you're quite heavily invested. For you I believe your Pi Hole already acts as the dns server so if you add the plex.tv DNS entries to the Pi Hole's /etc/hosts file and point them to the Pi 2 Plex server then you may be ok provided your users use WiFi in the house on their phones/tablets/whatever which use the Pi Hole as the DNS server.

Where do I find the Plex.tv dns entries? And would this affect using Plex outside of the house?
