Update: With adding owncloud to reverse proxy I noticed you still have to have the ports open on your router of your owncloud configuration, so in my example port 1443. This way if you load the example.com/owncloud it will redirect to example.com:1443/owncloud. If you don't have the 1443 port open on your router and you do this than the first time you will get a page not found but if you then just remove :1443 from the adress and load it again and then it will load your owncloud correctly but this is quite a fuzz.
It's probably just adding another line in one of the nginx files but haven't yet figured out which one.
I did figure out how to add monit to your reverse proxy.
First of all in your monit configuration:
Code:
sudo nano /etc/monit/monitrc
Uncomment your ssl settings:
Code:
# ssl enable
# pemfile /var/certs/monit.pem
reload monit and in your reverse proxy file:
PHP Code:
sudo nano /etc/nginx/sites-available/reverse
add:
Code:
location /monit/ {
rewrite ^/monit/(.*) /$1 break;
proxy_ignore_client_abort on;
proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:2812;
proxy_redirect http://127.0.0.1:2812 /monit;
}
Reload nginx and now you should be able to go example.com/monit/. Make sure you add the dashes behind the first two "/monit/" or it won't work.
If anyone should have an idea how to fix the owncloud issue, would be great (it does work, you can use a nice adres it just redirects you)

As for the port in the URL try this in your server block (not location block)
Code:
port_in_redirect off;
Your monit configuration matches the one I got to work here so glad it works for you too

Worked perfectly, added it in my nginx owncloud file under the ssl certificate and file. I knew it was just going to be a line somewhere but couldn't figure it out what and where exactly.

I didn't known you had a guide. Would have saved me quite some time

I got it from the monit website, which was the first result But now I see it yes. And quite some time is maybe exaggerated but I started searching for monit and url base cause I thought I had to add something in the monit configuration and that didn't give any usable result.
Have you actually considered to change your menu on te website? To have a better overview of all the guides on this website? Or even just a sitemap where you can find everything back?
It's a little point that sometimes bother me a bit about the website that it has all the major guides in the menu of your website but for everything else you need to search and also that it closes when you move your mouse a bit off and have to start navigating all over.
Don't take me wrong, I love your website and have helped me in many, many ways since I started with the raspberry pi and it's better to spend your time on guides then on webdesign but this is just a little bother I thought was worth mentioning.
Anyway I told you before, the work you do is greatly appreciated and I'm sure not only by me.

Tht is good feedback, in the beginning I was updating the menu all the time but it got cumbersome. I use Varnish for caching so I would have to refresh all the posts, pages and categories for the entire site every time there is a new post. So yea really I just got a bit lazy and since most of my traffic comes from Google I just didn't bother.
I am open to other ways to lay the menu out that keeps a similar structure so please suggest something if you have an idea in mind. The menu navigation can be annoying I agree, that is just how the javascript for this theme works.
I do like the idea of a sitemap, do you have an example of something like it? If I only had to update that each time there was a new post it'd be more manageable.

You used to have tekst sitemaps on every website, you always had a link to it on the bottom of the page between contact and disclaimer, but I think it's not really used anymore and if you have a lot of links you loose your overview. it's a bit like this for example:
Code:
- Linux
- Ubuntu
- HTPC
- Kodi
- Sonarr
- Server
- Owncloud
- Debian
-HTPC
All linked to there pages.
Maybe something like this you can use, especially for the ones with a lot of guides. For example you have your menu at the top Linux Windows, Mac, Android, ... If you hoover over Linux you get the next menu where you can choose Ubuntu, Debian,... And then hoover over Debian and the next menu comes with HTPC,Server,... But those last ones you link to a page (so no more menu) And then on for example the server page could look like:
Code:
- Install nginx
- Install owncloud
- Set up reverse proxy
- Set up reverse proxy for Monit
- Set up reverse proxy for madsonic
Especially if you have a lot of guides about one subject, like the reverse proxy guides, people will have a clearer overview. And also your top menu (almost) always stays the same: Linux -> Debian -> Server -> links to page. So every time you make a guide you put it in the right menu page and you don't have to refresh your entire website every time.
This is my idea how to keep the best overview over a lot of posts.
And another thing, godaddy has a sale on .com domains (0,99 cents for a year) so I bought one and then I was screwed Was going to give up on it, because like most people I have a dynamic ip, but then I figured out how to have you raspberry pi server connect to godaddy and change your a name ip adres when you outside ip adres changes. I just set it up today and running it to make sure it will keep changing the ip. But if you want I can post a guide here in different thread or how you want it if you are interested.

Maybe worth mentioning that you have to watch out a bit that you don't make too big of changes. Not going to change your entire layout or something, because you are pretty well ranked and making very big changes can have a bad influence on that. Just making some minor adjustments on an existing website won't of course.
Btw this godaddy address changer seems to run perfect, I'll post a guide in the forum one of these days.
