Hello folks, I'm having problems with automatic start of services through init.d. I have installed, NZBget, NZBdrone, Transmission, Headphones, Couchpotato and NZBMegasearch. I followed all RPI installation guides to the letter. I'm using Jessie 4.1.
Only services that start on reboot are Couchpotato and NZBDrone.
I run all services as pi. If you can help and need more details pls let me know and I'll post all you need. I'm totally stuck and dont even know where to begin to troubleshoot this.

This is an issue with jessie, it is easily fixed:
Transmission use the Ubuntu 15.x guide mainly the systemd part. The Raspberry Pi transmission guide refers to that guide if you are using Raspbian jessie
NZBMegaSearch use the systemd script from here
For headphones it is probably listening on the wrong IP. This will fix it
Code:
sed -i "/http_host = /c\http_host = 0.0.0.0" /opt/headphones/config.ini
I have updated the headphones and nzbmegasearch guides with fixes.

I followed you instructions and they worked partially. Now transmission, nzbget and nzbmegasearch dont start up automatically. I think I need to reinstall nzbget totally from scratch but am not sure how to remove everything connected with it.

So what worked exactly? You are saying 3 services don't start up anymore?
As a beginner, the easiest thing for you to do will be using the Minibian image with the installer (use the jessie one), it will do all of this for you (except nzbmegasearch). However, if you do want to do things manually:
Remove NZBGet with these commands, add sudo in front of all of them except the crontab line
Code:
service nzbget stop
update-rc.d nzbget disable
rm /etc/init.d/nzbget
systemctl disable nzbget.service
rm /etc/systemd/system/nzbget.service
NZBGETDIR=$(find / -type d -iname nzbget)
rm -R $NZBGETDIR
crontab -l -u pi | sed '\~@reboot /opt/nzbget/nzbget -D~d' | crontab -u pi -
For NZBGet on Jessie use the Ubuntu guide

Edit Reason: formatting
)
For nzbmegasearch using the ubuntu 15.x guide I get a error message
Code:
pi@raspberrypi ~ $ sudo systemctl enable nzbmegasearch
Synchronizing state for nzbmegasearch.service with sysvinit using update-rc.d...' pid='1380'
Executing /usr/sbin/update-rc.d nzbmegasearch defaults
insserv: warning: script 'K01nzbmegasearch' missing LSB tags and overrides
insserv: script nzbmegasearch is not an executable regular file, skipped!
Executing /usr/sbin/update-rc.d nzbmegasearch enable
update-rc.d: error: nzbmegasearch Default-Start contains no runlevels, aborting.

So only nzbmegasearch isn't working, right?
I forgot to mention you need to disable the nzbmegasearch service
Code:
sudo update-rc.d nzbmegasearch disable
sudo update-rc.d nzbmegasearch remove
sudo rm /etc/init.d/nzbmegasearch
Then enable the nzbmegasearch systemd script as outlined in the Ubuntu guide
P.S. take a look at the editor when you post and use the code tags (two blue arrows <>) and you can use the view source button (white page at the end for additional tweaking)

NZBget, Transmission, Headphones, Sonarr and Couchpotato all work now. NZBMegasearch is the only one that does not start up automatically but it starts and works if I manually start it. Maybe the Megasearch is not needed so much I think I can live without it or manually start it when I have need for it.Thank you very much for taking the time to assist me with this. Now my little pi is ready to be a automatic always running downloader. Best regards SGH Mike
